You may recall (of course) that Belgrade is friendly and welcoming to foreigners. We recently pointed out the statements made by Lisa Toboz, a traveler of Bloomfield, noting that people in Belgrade are friendly. She pointed out that there were times she felt as if she were in New York. This echoes a blog post by a 25 year old kiwi currently travelling around Europe, Joe Harrison, who spent three days in Serbia:
“Just spent last 3 days in Serbia which turned out to be a bit of a pleasant surprise. Having just came from Bosnia, a country which was laid to waste by the Serbian Army I was not really sure what the Serb people would be like. Thankfully the average Serb is rather friendly and welcoming, making them one of the nicest people in the Balkans I have came across so far. The capital of Belgrade is an ugly communist style city but yet its cafes and bars are pumping 24/7 giving it a good vibe making you feel as if you might be in Berlin or Copenhagen.”
Basically, it seems that Belgrade is just like New York, Berlin or Copenhagen. Part of my problem with all of these ‘comparisons’ is that these cities are by far not possible to compare with each other. Belgrade is just not like New York, Berlin or Copenhagen. Belgrade has beautiful buildings bombed by NATO, and Belgrade has some of the most beautiful women on planet. You see the difference?
