Thanks for posting from a normal man point of view - i put NG on hold for now, despite the fact that i like their TV and magazine as well. As you said, i also can't be too suprised myself . i saw it between the lines in some other reports about some other countrys like Siria, Iran and other scary lands for a western to set a foot too. Siria is beautiful btw.....

I am definitely not too acquainted with this matter but I do like to stop by blogs for layout ideas and exciting topics. You genuinely described a matter that I normally really don't care considerably about and built it terribly fascinating. That is a wonderful blog that I'll pay attention to. I already bookmarked it for future reference. Thank you

I think the readers here are unaware of a clear bias at NG. There have been periods when I stopped reading this magazine after reading absolutely offensive propaganda about Serbia in the magazine. Yes, it's hard to believe but look up back issues since 1990 or so. Yes, I still buy it. It's so often interesting. But don't kid yourself that a scholarly photo magazine doesn't have a bias!

What you see here is a deliberate attempt to show Serbia in a negative light. It has been going on for the last 15-20 years, so its nothing new.

So many American Serbs/Serbian Americans fought these NG lies with Letters to the editors. Their limpid replies were posted in the American SRBOBRAN for all to see. The challenge letters, the NG replies, and then counter-challenges again, so the evidence is there.

The National Geographic USED to be a fine publication. I have wonderful copies of the NG from 1915, 1950s, 1970's about the Serbian people of whom I am most proud, being an American of 100% Serbian descent myself.
Two of my favorite quotes come from the National Geographics of 1951 and 1970.

(1) <a href="http://www.babamim.com/7th_c_serb_folktale" rel="nofollow">http://www.babamim.com/7th_c_serb_folktale</a>
If you "listen" carefully, you'll learn what the Serbian people value dearly.....

George Long, in a 1951 issue of National Geographic wrote: "I watched a new film "THE MAGIC SWORD" being made from a 7th Century Serbian fairy tale. I watched enthralled while a lowly shepherd won the hand of a princess by defeating all of his rivals answering a riddle:

What is the SHARPEST thing in the world?

What is the STRONGEST?

What is the MOST BEAUTIFUL?"
??? ?? ?????????? ????? ?? ??????

??? ?? ????????

??? ?? ?????????

Take some time and read those 3 questions again. What would you have answered?

?????????????????

The young lad thought for a moment and spoken like a true Serb, he said:

The SHARPEST thing is the world is the TRUTH.

The STRONGEST thing in the world is LOVE.

The MOST BEAUTIFUL thing in the world is LIBERTY!
????? ????? ????? ?? ???????? ? ??????? ??? ????? ?????, ?? ?? ?????:

?????????? ????? ?? ????? ?? ??????.

??????? ????? ?? ????? ?? ?????.

???????? ????? ?? ????? ?? ???????!
+++++++

(2) <a href="http://www.babamim.com/kosovo" rel="nofollow">http://www.babamim.com/kosovo</a>

The National Geographic from May, 1970, vol. 137, no.5 on page 592, in a report by Robert Paul Jordan of the Senior Editorial Staff wrote in a section called "Freedom Lost-Freedom Regained" in his article entitled "YUGOSLAVIA: SIX REPUBLICS IN ONE":

"Recently, in the autonomous Serbian region of Kosovo, I climbed a tall monument's dark and winding steps. Finally at the top, I met an aged peasant who told me his name was Risto Misljen. His hair and mustache were white; his eyesight, he said, was failing. Yet there he stood, leaning on his cane and peering out at bleak Kosovo Polje, the Field of the Blackbird.

"Why have you come here" I asked, know him for a pilgrim but wanting his own words. Across the broad plain before us, on a bloody day in 1389, Serbia had died, her heavily outnumbered defenders crushed by the invading Ottoman Turks. Through much of Yugoslavia people today still talk about "five centuries of enslavement."

"We all come to Kosvo when we can," he replied. "We lost our freedom here, and learned what freedom means."

Zivela, Srbija.... You know who and what you are and what you stand for. Truth, Liberty, and Justice.
