The long-awaited spring brings new opportunities for the search of some interesting events in the city, such as the Commercial Vehicle Show at Belgrade Fair. Among the glittering, new big boys’ toys, there’s also a small section featuring old timers – funny, rusty vans, trucks, bikes, cars and several buses, of which one in particular struck my attention, old but not forgotten – the unmistakeable green Leyland bus.
The bus quickly became a common sight on Belgrade roads, promising high quality, reliable and safe transport, back in the sixties and seventies when the living was easy and pace used to be pretty slow and relaxed. It served well for years, quickly became one of the Belgrade symbols and dissapeared all of a sudden, when newer models came along. The old, green Leyland bus – a reminder of a bygone era.
